COCKY
I got you as a child
From Granny and Pops you came
You nibbled gentle on my finger
In a cage you sat
Around your leg a chain
You could talk so nicely
“Bugger Bugger” you would say
And you would get louder
If we were naughty
During the long summers day
You could open the back door
Come inside and sit under a seat
You butted heads with my dad
And would bite him on the feet
I would but you on my tricycle
And you would sit upon the tray
I would sit you in the middle of the driveway
To stop a girl coming across to play
You lived to well over 100 years old
Then one morning mum found you
And your small body was very cold
She carefully wrapped you in a blanket
And very gently I did hold
You were so very much admired
I so very much loved you
You were my childhood friend
