Re: My Mosaic

Oh and to top it off i find out today that my pdoc appointment for Thursday has been rescheduled to 3 weeks time!!!!!

Re: My Mosaic

Well that’s really not good enough @Bow  and I realise you can’t go private but have you discussed this with your GP? Sometimes they know who bulk bills…just a thought or the butterfly foundation?

This really annoys me that you can’t get the support you need.

Re: My Mosaic

Hey @Bow

I'm sorry about the lack of support hon. You can scream out for help yet it seems to do nothing. I wish we could help. I know it's not the same.

That one on one ongoing support is really needed.

Re: My Mosaic

Yeah I’ve mentioned it to my gp @Eve7  she told me to apply for ndis but they don’t cover psychologists. She also mentioned dokotela, but I’ve done pdocs through them and it was an absolute nightmare! And they only do Telehealth I think and I really need face to face.

Perhaps I’m not screaming loud enough @Snowie ? Like what more do I need to do??

I really do fear that the shats gonna hit the fan

Re: My Mosaic

I don’t know what to say @Bow  but I will be here listening whenever you need.

Re: My Mosaic

It's sad how loud we need to scream @Bow or what we need to do to just get basic support.

It shouldn't come to this point.

I don't know what else you can do hon.

Re: My Mosaic

hey @Bow i'm hearing that you're worried about how things are going to play out without support from a psych. it sucks to hear how hard this has been on you.

if you apply for ndis, are there other types of supports that you could get access to in the meantime that might be helpful? is there any other services/organisations you can lean on while you wait? i think @Eve7 mentioned butterfly foundation, i wonder if you can get a referral there?

if you ever feel like you're hitting a crisis point, please don't hesitate to ring up SCBS, Lifeline or BeyondBlue 💙

oh and some universities offer discounted psych sessions to the public... but the only issue is that they are often students/in their placement. if you are interested, you could have a look into it but again, they might not be as experienced.

Re: My Mosaic

Thanks @Snowie @Eve7

@rav3n  not real sure what kind of supports I could get through ndis. They’d cover my dietitian and I’d most likely lose my current SW and have to get one through ndis, so I’d be starting again in regards to that support relationship.

the butterfly foundation doesn’t really offer individual therapy. They have a couple of zoom groups and they have their webchat/helpline, but your only allowed 2 brief contacts a week. So they are ok for a quick chat when things are overwhelming. But ya gotta be careful what ya share, any mention of physical symptoms and they call emergency services.

I really need intense regular therapy.

just had a bit of a look online…. Clinical support like counselling and psychology is not funded because it falls under Medicare funding. … Just picking my jaw up off the floor… the small amount of funding from a Medicare rebate.

im so angry and frustrated. And there is nothing I can do about it. I’m trapped.

Re: My Mosaic

@Bow the amount that Medicare covers is so minimal. Even with a mental health care plan it doesn't really help cover the cost.

I don't know how people are meant to get proper support and the more qualified the psych is the more money they charge.

My psych is putting her prices up at the start of next year. They always seem to be increasing.

It's too hard to navigate the whole Mental Health system. It has major flaws in it.

Re: My Mosaic

Yep @Snowie  and you betcha your psych puts their price up but Medicare never changes their rebates!  It’s an absolute joke.

I don’t know what to do anymore
