All I remember my Nan cooking was her tomato soup with home grown tomatoes @Snowie I don’t have her recipe but when I make it I think of her.
I make some of my mum’s recipes. She always baked afternoon tea for us and my friends used to love coming over after school. I failed in that department as I always worked.

Tomato soup from home grown tomatoes would have been so yummy @Eve7 Nothing like home grown veggies.
Unfortunately I fail in the 'home grown' veggies. I'm not very good at keeping plants alive!
I don't think you failed at all hon. You did what you needed to do. I went back to work when my kids were young. Didn't have a choice then. Very different these days with prices of everything.

I just harvested some eggplants so I have to figure out what to cook with them @Snowie and I’ve had success in the pumpkin patch this year too and they are beautiful. I love growing veggies.

It sounds like you are very good at growing veggies @Eve7
My dad used to have a great veggie patch.
I have made eggplant lasagna before. Instead of using pasta sheets you use sliced eggplants.
Pumpkins are yummy too. Maybe even pumpkin soup.

I do have help from a gardener @Snowie so I can’t take all the credit. I’ve already had pumpkin soup twice this week so I might make pumpkin scones on Sunday.
My dad was a prolific veggie gardener and he grew lots of flowers too. Mum always had fresh flowers in the house but when dad had cancer he bought some plastic flowers and told mum he was too sick to garden anymore. We had those plastic flowers at her funeral and asked people not to send bought flowers but to bring a posy from their gardens.

ohh pumpkin scones are yummy @Eve7 I haven't had them for ages.
That would have been nice at her funeral, to get people to bring home grown flowers. So much better than store brought.
The only flowers I have in my house are fake!! H's mum is into flowers and her garden patch.

The only flowers I grow are sunflowers and geraniums @Snowie
Just watching the swimming trials…makes me shiver to look at the pool but we have a new crop of swimmers coming through.

I brought some plants awhile ago for my yard @Eve7 Made sure they didn't need much watering!
I love sunflowers. I remember you going to that farm.
I do like watching the swimming but only really watch it at the Olympics. I'm glad we have a new crop of them coming through. We have always done well.
Better go pick up S from work. He works in town so a nice drive down from where we live.
Thanks for the chat tonight hon. I have really enjoyed it.
Talk again soon 💕

Lots of appointments with mum the last few days. Dentist, hearing, blood test, gp.
Sometimes I feel like all I'm here to do is run her around. My own identity is getting lost.
She keeps a log in her diary of when I take her out, when I go out without her and when she is home all day. I don't know why she keeps it. She made a smart remark the other day because H and I went out to lunch by ourselves on Sunday.
On a good note, my psych is back on Thursday after 7 weeks away. It's only tele health but I guess better than nothing. I'm sure an hour isn't long enough to fill her in on whats happened whilst she's been away.

Once again, I'm not 'them'. It doesn't matter. Sometimes I wonder why I even bother.
