That's a,worry @Shaz51

I'd hoped for you it was improving

Will you have more insulin tonight?

Re: Diabetes and mental health

Sorry to hear this @Shaz51 that is awfully high. I hope youre not too distressed about it. My diabetes educator had me doing all sorts of things. It can be like all panic stations trying to get the numbers down and trying to see what works. I hope you will be okay. You seemed to get it under control when it was high last time.

Re: Diabetes and mental health

it is crazy @Dimity

yesterday through the day was really good and then last night was 13.0 when i went to bed

today has been kind of high all day

I did have a dietician but she was useless , now I dont have on

might have to ring diabetes specialist or see GP next week

Will you have more insulin tonight? --- dont know if I am allowed too ?

Re: Diabetes and mental health

thanks @SmilingGecko , it is golly hard to get a balance

Re: Diabetes and mental health

It's hard @Shaz51 . I'm sorry the dietician was no help, they're supposed to be experts.

Sitting with you.

That certainly is high ☹️  It is usually that high or is it just a spike.  I know when I was struggling to get mine down, I found out some foods I was told weren't too bad, really spiked my blood sugar.  I know it can be so frustrating.  I'm not sure I would change your medication without talking to your GP or specialist first.  There must be some reason for these spikes.

Re: Diabetes and mental health

Hi @Shaz51 . I’m sorry that you’re having trouble with your BGLs. 19.0 is high as I’m aware of this due to my housemate having Type 1. I know her sugars have been high lately- 23.0 and higher- but she’s unsure why except to think she may have an infection which she doesn’t know about. She’s also on  the  ‘drug of choice’ to help her with her diabetes and not for weight loss and that has helped her BGLs most of the time. Before getting a script for it, she had constant issues with high sugar readings and frequent urination issues.

Mitz- my cat- also had a BGL of 19.0 when we first took her to the vet over 3 weeks ago after being in DKA and she also had a reading if 11.0 last week which the vet put down to her being stressed at the vet clinic as she was 3.0 in a previous reading. She also had to increase her insulin amount that we had to give her from 2 units twice a day to 3 units twice a day. She goes back to the vet on Monday afternoon for more tests and a check up so I’m hoping my gorgeous cat will be okay!
Are you sure you aren’t sick with something? Does it just happen at night? Could you speak to a medical professional about this just to make sure you’re getting enough insulin and food? These are just suggestions and ideas that I know I ask of my housemate when she’s in this position.

Take care and stay safe!
