You are totally correct - I see a lot of teachers that want the kids out of the class and will not give them the time of day - that is not the way to treat these kids - they need love, support and above all trust in you as that is often what they are missing in their home lives. It makes me angry when teachers do not see past the 'bad' behaviour to the little person in front of them that obviously has massive issues they are dealing with and often consumed their whole lives.

I do miss that part of teaching - seeing the smile on the kids face when they get something right or learn something new - and it makes it even more rewarding when you know they have a less than ideal life outside of school.
