New community member

Hey,

I am a teacher, working in a Christian College that has become toxic. This toxic environment has made my condition escalate.

I have been diagnosed with Complex PTSD, Bipolar 2, and Social anxiety.

I am hoping to connect with people, so I can talk about my condition and how to manage certain situations.

Hey @Cassia77 - and a warm welcome to the forums.

Sounds like you've already got a lot on your plate that you're trying to cope with. Having to work in a toxic environment on top of all that must be so exhausting and overwhelming. It's not fair at all 😔. But I'm glad you know there are places like this to reach out.

I know there are other users here who are living with ptsd, bipolar, anxiety, etc. So I do hope reading their stories and chatting to others will help you feel less alone.

Feel free to also post in the Talking through trauma and PTSD space 💬

Do you know much about psychosocial hazards? Your workplace needs to look after not just your physical safety, but your mental safety too. There is a list of things they need to consider. Maybe being able to name the specific toxic elements of your workplace could help if you decide to make a report.

But also feel welcome to share some of your struggles here on the forums so the community can offer their own support and encouragement. (I'll also share a gentle reminder not to share any identifying details about your school).

Hope to see you around!

Hi @Cassia77

I want to reply to this but I juat don't have the spoons today. But I still need to pop in and say...

Up until the start of this year I was a teacher. I taught for 10 years across different systems of education. At the end of last year, I realised that teaching had a negative impact on my mental health and so I got out. In many ways I'm still adjusting to that change.

I have three mental health official diagnoses and my psychologist is leaning towards a couple of others, so I know how hard it can be to hold it all.

I wanted to say more, I just don't have it in me today.

Re: New community member

Hi @Cassia77

I am a teacher too with complex PTSD, anxiety and major depression. The school I worked at wasn't a safe environment. I had many different things/scenarios that led to this.

I have taken time off work because of my condition.

I hope you find this forum supportive and you get the answers you need.

Re: New community member

@Snowie I am about to see a doctor to give me time off, or to admit me because I am struggling so much, that I had a meltdown last night, stormed off late last night and upset my mum and dogs.

Re: New community member

Thats how I got time off work @Cassia77

Thought I'd only need a few weeks break, but ended up being much longer.

I have had admissions too. They can be of benefit.

I hope you do what is right for you.
