Today's been a reasonable day. I could even upgrade that to good this evening. I left the caravan park this morning heading further south to the ocean. Within half an hour I came across the whitest of sands and crystal clear turquoise waters. This tiny town was the epitome of an Aussie beach town. I stumbled upon an op shop that I browsed in, and tasted a delicious, fresh scone. Jokingly I asked for a coffee to go with it and it was produced in moments. Not as good as a flat white but not as expensive either.
I drove out on the lesser used road to more beaches. And then I came across the dirt road that followed the coast (couldn't see the beach from the car). This is what my car was made for but I was still nervous not having driven in it on dirt roads before. And I didn't know how long the gravel road went for. But I'm an adventurer and explorer. Do I held my breath for a short while. It wasn't a difficult drive. Mostly. A few teeth chattering places that were like being in a turbulent plane but otherwise bearable.
I miscalculated how much fuel I had and where the next service was, so I got back to the main roads before the end of the dirt road.
Unfortunately there were no services before I reached my destination but I made it with a little spare in the tank.
Again, it's an Aussie beach town. More so than the other due to its bigger size. Tourists everywhere. After an explore, some late lunch and shopping I headed out to the farm stay.
No one but guests were here when I arrived, and they told me the owners had gone out. I gave them a call and she said I could make myself comfortable in the covered dining area next to the cafe.
So I'm still here when the owner turns up with her husband. She says I can go into the animal park anytime (I haven't told her I already did- it's pretty amazing).
She asked if I needed anything, did I find the fridge for my food, etc.
Again I made a joke that I was considering starting on the drinks in the fridge! So I was offered a wine! And aerogard for all the flies that want to carry me away!
She told me of all the facilities that will be in the cabin tommorow and its much better than I expected.
The owner is a nurse as well, works locally and knows a 'friend' of mine who also lives and works as a nurse here.
So I'm relaxed totally now after the wine, I've had a small amount of food and I'm ready for sleep nearly. I think this is going to be an OK week or better for me.
